September is National Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Awareness Month

The goal of PAD Awareness Month is to educate the public on risk factors, symptoms and healthy lifestyle choices that can slow or prevent the progression of the disease. One in 20 Americans over the age of 50 has PAD according to recent NIH statistics. Although it is a common and treatable disease, PAD is often undetected or unrecognized, and its symptoms are commonly attributed to old age. Timely detection and treatment can improve overall quality of life by significantly decreasing pain and discomfort, in addition to risk of heart attack, stroke and/or amputation. To learn more on PAD symptoms, PAD treatment options and to take a risk assessment, visit infoPAD.com.
